Welcome to Carla Trump's Portfolio
Welcome to my portfolio. In here you will see resources that I have gathered during my education classes and experiences. Please take the time to browse through and learn a little bit more about me!
My name is Carla Trump. Before I came to Grand Valley, I went to Schoolcraft Public Schools in Schoolcraft, Michigan. Now I am studying to be an elementary teacher. My major is English and my minor is Elementary Education. I am very passionate about teaching. I love what experience I have had so far and I look forward to becoming an Elementary teacher. I have had experience with tutoring several 3rd grade girls in reading for several semesters and observing and generally helping out in several classrooms. The summer of 2010 I went to the Netherlands with a Study Abroad program for 5 weeks, during which I taught year 6 (our equivalent to 5th grade) in United World Colleges Maastricht, attended seminars, and learned all about teaching English Language Learners. During this experience I also had the privilege of teaching two autistic children and several dyslexic children. The experiences that I had in that classroom has really started to shape who I am as a teacher. I feel extremely lucky to have met those children and teachers.
I believe that teachers are the most influential people in a child's life and I will strive to be a great role model. Likewise, children are extremely influential in a teacher's life. Since I have discovered this, my fire for teaching has been burning ever brighter.
